According to the latest U.S. census data there are 2.78 million Administrative Assistants throughout the nation.

Here at the New Unity Baptist Church, we have one of those tireless, selfless, dedicated workers amongst us. Her name, Deacon Tamera Randolph. Her value to our ever-evolving, ever-expanding  "equipping and empowering" ministry-organization is indispensable.

Of the 2.78 million persons working in one of these physically demanding, mentally taxing, emotionally stressful position "her price is far above rubies."

Further reading revealed that these persons 'who  keep many  business and office operations running so smoothly are mostly women (94%), from secretaries and medical or legal administrative assistants to executive secretaries and administrative assistants who as a group in 2019 earned below-average wages: $41,150 compared to the national average of $50,078 for all other jobs.

So,  New Unity, on that front we have much work to do in catching up and showing "Sis Tam" how much, we value her work and her worth. In the meantime, we can /should / will shower her with gifts tangible, known and seen.

As we prepare for our move into our Promised Land, others leading along with 'Sis Tam,' Deacon  Millicent Hoover, Deacon C. Vanessa Thomas, Deacon  Sandra Talbert-Jackson, Deacon (Mother) Rosa Porter, Deacon  Denise Pailin, Deacon  Wanda Bennett, Deacon Marion M. Highe, Sis. Sarah Johnson, Ministers Catherine  Giles, Inette Dixon, and Zazenza Smith, Deacon Rhonda C. Thomas, Deacon Frances Jackson, Sis. Brittany Johnson and from  the abundance of the  women of our church "not a few" (Acts 17:4b) all embodied in the gracious, loving energy of our Leading Lady, the Rev. Wanda N. Golden

How could we forget our precious Mothers, (lack of) space will not permit me to enumerate the list of them, nor of our flourishing younger ladies but they are each dear and not forgotten.

"Thanks for your help, Sis. Tam," is no longer adequate or sufficient, but  each of us must now act - not merely react -  with intentionality, purpose and generosity.

To you, Deacon Tamera Randolph,  we simply say THANKS YOU FOR THE LOVE. Truly the best is yet to come; you just watch and see, for your labor has not been in vain.

And to ALL of our great leaders, workers, volunteers, supporters and all the rest. as Sis. Tam's niece, and soon to be Coppin State University Eagle,  Sis. Andrea Wright-Brown,  introduces our global  ministry to a vast audience each week, "we are so blessed to have you join us!"

Thank you, Deacon Tamera Patterson Randolph, HAPPY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT DAY  to you for you are truly ONE IN A MILLION!
